EXPLORING THE SCRIPTURES

This month we will be looking at the concept of the Trinity. We close our prayerful Collects to God with the phrase “through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.” We sing “One God, three persons, blessed Trinity.” And we make the sign of the cross. The word “Trinity” does not specifically appear in scripture, so how does this concept of “one in three and three in one” become such a foundational doctrine in our Christian belief? We will look at that development and at the scriptural references supporting it.
